The Commemoration Ceremony of the Thirtieth Anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor’s Accession to the Throne was held at the National Theatre
On February 24, the Commemoration Ceremony of the Thirtieth Anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor’s Accession to the Throne was held at the National Theatre in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe delivered an address at the ceremony, following which congratulatory messages were offered by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tadamori Oshima, the President of the House of Councillors Chuichi Date, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan Naoto Otani, and the Ambassador of the Republic of San Marino/Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Japan Manlio Cadelo.
Masao Uchibori, the Governor of Fukushima Prefecture and Yoriko Kawaguchi, a former member of the House of Councillors made speeches on behalf of the people. Subsequently, the Emperor’s poems were read aloud. After the commemorative music performance, the Emperor delivered an address followed by three cheers for him.
JCS took the responsibility of translating the address delivered by Prime Minister Abe, the congratulatory messages offered by the other participants, and the speeches made by the representatives of the people. JCS also assisted in the simultaneous interpretation that occurred at the venue on the day of the ceremony.
