A JCS Director Gave a Presentation on MICE at Sagami Women’s University
On May 23, Mai Otomo, JCS International Conferences Department, gave a presentation entitled “Introduction to Tourism Studies” as a guest lecturer of the Department of English Language, Culture, and Communication, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Sagami Women’s University (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa).
The MICE business currently occupies the center of attention in Japan, with an economic ripple effect of about 1 trillion yen. Using some of the conferences for which she was responsible as examples, Director of International Conferences, Otomo discussed the role of PCO and how her job brings real joy to her life. She also emphasized the fact that MICE is an industry where women can play an active role.
After the lecture, students said, “I could deepen my understanding of the MICE business,” “It’s a hard but valuable job,” and “I want to work in an industry where women can actively participate,” etc.
JCS is pleased if the lecture assisted in communicating the charm and values of the MICE industry, which the government also pays attention, to more individuals.
